For this project, the Studio 4 of the BankART 1929 studio NYK in Yokohama was used as a satellite laboratory of the artist whose university was located in Wakkanai City, the northernmost tip of Japan for two months. The laboratory aimed to present a series of projects that would connect the two cities of Yokohama and Wakkanai. By re-locating the laboratory from Wakkanai for a limited period to the big city of Yokohama, it gave me some time to reconsider the meaning of working in Wakkanai City while introducing some research activities there to people in Yokohama.

BankART Studio NYK　Studio4（横浜）

本企画では、BankART1929 studio NYK　スタジオ4（横浜）を日本最北端の大学、稚内北星学園大学・稲垣立男研究室のサテライトスタジオとして2 ヶ月使用し、情報メディアやアートの「研究室」として活用すると共に、稚内と横浜を結ぶアートプロジェクトを実施した。横浜という場所に短期限定で拠点を移すことで、普段、稚内で実施している研究活動だけでは気づかない、ある特定の地域の文化的・社会的特性に対する理解を深め、それを情報メディア、およびアートの視点から読み解いていくことを目的とした。またこのような活動を広く一般に公開することで、通常あまり知られることのない稚内での研究教育活動の一端を紹介し、その可能性について再考した。
